Making art more accessible, visible, and appreciated.
Etowah Arts is a professional organization for artists, makers, and art enthusiasts in North Georgia. We foster education, advocacy, and visibility to strengthen the role of the arts in our communities.
Born from a conversation about Canton’s arts scene
Jamie Foster Foreman and Shanna Jackson Coulter have been part of the creative life of Canton, Georgia for years, as artists, business owners, and community advocates.
Jamie owns Menagerie on Main, the art gallery in downtown Canton where she and around 50 local artists show, sell, and teach. She also connects artists and the community through regional festivals, including the West Main Arts Festival.
Shanna owns Local Color Studio, a community art studio previously located in downtown Canton, and operates a community pottery studio. Follow her work at shannacoulter.com. She teaches art to teens and works as an artist and advocate for the arts.
After an episode of Creatives on the Couch, a live show on the state of the arts in Canton, the two lamented the void left by the Cherokee Arts Center and decided to start Etowah Arts. Together, they work to make art more accessible, more visible, and more appreciated, because they believe in its transformative power.
